TECH SUPPORT

Nonspillable

The Xingyuan VRLA battery uses an absorbed electrolyte system. All of the electrolyte is absorbed into the positive plates, negative plates, and the separators. Coupled with the use of special sealing epoxies, and long sealing paths for posts, Xingyuan VRLA batteries have exceptional leak resistance, and can be used in any position.

Sealed and Maintenance-free Operation

There is no corrosive gas generation during normal use and no need to check the specific gravity of the electrolyte or to add water during the service life.

High Quality and High Reliability

The Xingyuan VRLA battery has stable and reliable capacity. The battery can withstand overcharge, over discharge, vibration, and shock. To assure this high quality and reliability, the batteries are 100% tested on production line for voltage, capacity, seals and the safety valve are 100% visually inspected before the final assembly process.

Exceptional Deep Discharge Recovery

Xingyuan batteries have exceptional deep discharge recovery and charge acceptance, even after deep or prolonged discharge.

Low Self-discharge

Because of the use of lead calcium grids alloy and highly purity materials. Xingyuan VRLA battery can be stored long periods of time without recharge. The rate of Xingyuan VRLA battery self-discharge on open circuit is less than 2% per month at 20oC/68oF to 25oC/77oF.

Long Service Life

The Xingyuan VRLA battery has long life in standby or cyclic service.

Solid Copper Terminals

Ensures highest current carrying capability.

Computer-aided Design and Manufacturing

Ensures quality products through control of processes and standards.

General Storage Conditions:

The battery should be stored under the following conditions.

(1) Low humidity
(2) 5 to 122°F(-15 to 50°C)
(3) Clean, and avoid direct sunlight.

Capacity after Long Term Storage

After long term storage, all batteries deliver less than rated capacity on first cycle. In cyclic application, full capacity may be obtained through several charge/discharge cycles, typically 2-3 cycles.

Refresh Charge: When batteries are placed in extended storage, it is recommended that they receive a refresh charge at recommended intervals as following

Refresh charging method: 3 to 5 hours of constant current 0.1C Amps or 12 to 16 hours at constant voltage of 2.45V/cell

Storage Ambient:Recommended Interval
Below 20 °C (68°F)12 months
20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)6 months
30 to 40°C (86 to 104°F)3 months

The capacity or life of the SLA batteries is influenced by environmental temperature, charging voltage and other parameters. So charging methods is important to the SLA batteries. Electrochemical activity in a battery increases as temperature rises and conversely decreases as temperature falls. Therefore, when temperature rises, the charge voltage should be reduced to prevent overcharge, and when temperature falls, the charge voltage should be increased to avoid undercharge. Generally, use of a temperature compensated charger is recommended in order to obtain optimum service life. Charging temperature adjustment as following:

  • 12V battery: U=U0-(t-25) ×0.018
  • 6V battery: U=U0-(t-25) ×0.009
  • U: actual charging voltage U0: charging voltage at 25℃(77 OF) t: temperature;
  • Temperature compensation of charging voltage is not required when using the batteries within 15℃ to 35℃ range.

  • It is important to avoid overcharge or over discharge, and charge the battery immediately after discharging. When the batteries are stored in the discharged state, they may be had difficulty in recharging due to the increase in the internal resistance.
  • Charge the batteries, at least once, every six months during storage below 25℃. The period of this charge must be shortened to half by temperature rising in every 10℃.
  • Avoid locating the batteries near a heat-generating device (such as a transformer) or near fire. Do not locate the batteries near a device that may cause sparks, and do not bring fire close the batteries. Keep batteries in a place where the temperature is sufficiently low.
  • If the batteries are to be used in an enclosed space or in a container, provision should be made for adequate ventilation.
  • Do not place the batteries in an atmosphere of organic solvent or adhesive materials.
  • When connecting the batteries, free air space must be provided for each battery. The recommended minimum space between batteries is 5mm to 10mm.
  • Clean the battery with a piece of wet cloth. Never have the battery splashed of deposited with oils or organic solvents such as gasoline or paint thinner, nor have it cleaned with cloths impregnate with these materials.
  • Dismantling the battery is not advisable. If sulfuric acid is deposited on skin or clothes, please wash well with sufficient amount of fresh water and obtain immediate medical attention.
  • Mixed use of batteries with different capacities, histories and or manufactures is liable to cause damage to the battery or the equipment. If this is unavoidable, please consult manufacturer beforehand.
  • Fasten the batteries securely to protect it from abnormal vibration and shocks during service.
  • It is advisable to periodically to do check and maintenance. Measure the total voltage of the batteries during float charge. If the charge equipment provides an irregular readout, be sure to investigate the reason behind any deviations from the specified voltage range. Check the batteries for any sign of irregularities in appearance. If any damage such as a crack and deformation, or electrolyte leakage is found on the case, cover, etc., the batteries must be replaced with a new one. Also, clean the batteries if these are found dirty due to dirt and dust.
  • Do not short batteries. Do not attempt to disassemble the batteries. Avoid contact with sulfuric acid leaked from the broken batteries.
